Looking Back

Stressed man slumped onto his laptop with another man looking over

The project is done and finally over. While it may have been a somewhat stressful situation, it helped highlight the tasks I'm capable of and the flaws I need to work on improving. One could say it was a valuable experience.

Over the course of the project, I had experienced a rollercoaster of emotions - most of which was adjacent to dread but there were certainly times in which I felt I was on the right course of action. The first week or so was turbulent with my inability to contact my group which lead to a transfer to a different group. My original topic was on 'Youtube, Podcasts and Parasocial Media' which was something I had a passing interest in and had wanted to delve deeper into the topic. That was exactly what I did, I had a small handful of texts that I had found on the TUD Library's online resource and had looked into them. As I am somewhat of a slow reader, I was able to go through some of them although it was difficult to retain information. This was especially the case when I hadn't much insight as to the direction of the project. Either way, it did not hold much significance as I was moved to another group dealing in the topic of 'Play, Agency, and Interactive Narrative'.

While it was a topic I was vaguely interested in, it was certainly a change in direction. As well it led to a fair amount of catch-up that I had to achieve. In addition, I recognise that I have issues in initiating communication which proved a hindrance to my workflow. Regardless, I had been assigned some of the workloads and had a bit more direction compared to the week before.

There were many attempts in finding information and recording what I learned but, of course, it was difficult as certainly lacked the same interest as the previous topic. My attention span is sparse as is, and paired with a somewhat lacking interest was difficult to deal with. Thankfully the looming deadlines and fear that I may hinder other people aided me in completing my work, even when it may not be the best that I believe I am capable of.

Overall the video is very basic in its nature. Perhaps having a somewhat overactive imagination did not help in setting realistic goals especially in conjunction with the issues I came across. The final product certainly doesn't have the same amount of flair compared to the imagery I had conjured but it is straightforward and certainly made to fulfil a task. In terms of its ability to educate its viewers - I, unfortunately, cannot say that it captured my attention for long enough to impart enough information for me to call it that, but it most certainly holds information.
